This European made Vogel Traditional Grand Piano is in fantastic condition. It performs like new and is cosmetically superb. Vogel pianos were designed and manufactured by Schimmel Pianos of Germany. These pianos were the predecessor to the current line of pianos produced by Schimmel under the ‘Wilhelm Schimmel’ name. The case on this piano is absolutely stunning. It is embellished with custom hand-inlaid intarsia. Intarsia is a form of wood inlaying that is similar to marquetry. The start of the practice dates from before the seventh century AD. Intarsia uses varied shapes, sizes, and species of wood fitted together to create a mosaic-like picture with an illusion of depth. The motif of the pattern on this piano is largely scrolled leaf and floral cumulating in a gorgeous hand-inlaid image of a harp and woodwinds on the lid of the piano.
This is one of those rare art case pianos that you don’t come across very often. From all indications, this piano was purchased as a show piece and was rarely played. It also comes with a QRS Pianomation 2000c player piano system professionally installed in 2006 and it is in perfect operating condition. We have upgraded the player so that it can be easily controlled by an iPad. This allows you greater and easier access to an endless library of songs available on the internet.
The rich sound and resonate tone of this piano is everything you would expect in a piano made by Schimmel. At only 5’-3” in size, it will fit comfortably in any room while providing you with superior sound quality for a piano in the small baby grand size category. The action (keyboard) is fast, tight, and responsive with a medium to heavy feel, and the piano has additional refinements such as a soft fall keyboard cover and fully adjustable sliding music rest.
Vogel by Schimmel pianos were manufactured in their factory in Kalisz, Poland, under the stringent quality control and management of Schimmel. Final work and regulation was done in Germany. This allowed the company to produce a competitively priced hand-crafted European piano made with high quality components at a price point closer to that of Asian pianos. Vogel pianos are often compared to Steinway’s ‘Boston’ line of pianos that are manufactured by Kawai in Japan.
This beautiful piano comes with the original matching artist bench embellished with the same intarsia pattern as the case and lid of the piano. The piano has been thoroughly inspected, serviced, and tuned by our shop technicians and all brass work has been cleaned and polished to like new condition.
