    Description

    Steinway B 6'8'' - Victorian Art Case - 1884 - 7 octave - plays and sounds great.
I bought this piano about 15 years ago and have done minimal work on the piano since. It has been tuned and voiced once or twice a year since I've owned the instrument. The environment that this piano has been living in since my purchase is extremely stable: central humidity control system as well as central AC/heat. As a professional pianist, I have taken great care of the instrument and it will always hold a special place in my heart. But I am opening a piano studio in the next year and need to downgrade size and brand so 2 pianos will fit in my studio.
This piano has a gorgeous complex classic Steinway tone: a very rich and deep bass, and a lively treble. The Art Case is in very good condition, much more beautiful in person. The pictures don't do it justice.
At the time of manufacturing, 1884, Steinway pianos were built with 85 keys. This is a wonderful period instrument to look back and play on a 7 octave piano. This is a similar piano that would have been available to composers such as Brahms or Debussy.
Prior to when I purchased this piano, a fair amount of work had been done on it around 30 years ago. A player system was installed and then taken out. Because of which, modifications were made to the pedal trap to allow the sostenuto pedal to function. Back action, hammers, strings, tuning pins, and key bushings were all replaced with new parts at this time as well. The cabinet was refinished and the bridges and soundboard crack have been repaired prior to when I bought the piano. Original Ivory Keys are still in good condition. Only one key in the treble has a small chip in it.
(If you are looking for this piano to be in concert hall ready condition, some more work may have to be done on the front action.)
If you are looking for a piano with an extraordinarily rich and complex tone as well as a stunning piece of art then this piano is for you!
Please contact me if you have any questions, or would like me to send any other specific pictures. I also recently had a registered piano technician inspect and appraise the piano. I can send you this information, although most of the information is in this description.
Bench in picture is not included, but the original art case "duet" bench is included. Pictures can be sent upon request.
