Description
Vintage six foot-one-inch long Bluthner parlor grand piano for sale. This piano was constructed in Leipzig, Germany during 1894 and bought there during the 1890s by a Leipzig family. That German family emigrated to the USA State of Vermont before the First World War and the piano stayed with them in Vermont for more than 100 years--until I bought it and moved it to Houston, Texas. The original sheet music rack has been replaced with a solid rack. This piano has two pedals and 88 keys. All but one of the 88 keys are original (hence ivory). The one key that was replaced has a slightly whiter shade (see attached photos). The piano's hammers and strings were replaced in 2017 when I bought it. The piano sound board and pin block are in good shape with no open cracks in the sound board. The pins in the pin block pins are reasonably-sized; so, piano can be restrung at least one or two more times, when needed.
Piano has been tuned at least once a year since 2017. It has a deep melodious tone, typical of Bluthner pianos, and a light buttery touch. The Beatles usually recorded their songs on a Bluthner piano (see 'Hey Jude' recording on the internet.)
This piano's serial number is 41863 (1894). Piano is five feet wide and three foot two inches high, as is typical for grand pianos. Piano bench is not original. This piano is in good shape considering its age. Buyer must pay for moving the piano out of my single-story home with no steps to the curb loading area. As a person who has bought pianos on the internet, I would recommend that you retain a piano expert to come to my home to play and evaluate my piano. I am downsizing my living accommodations and need to sell at least one of my grand pianos (I have 4).
