Antique Victorian 6’ Conover Grand Piano (Needs Rebuild)

Description

This is an Antique Conover Grand Piano, believed to have been built in 1885. It is a beautiful instrument, built in the Victorian style. This piano is in need of a rebuild and the price is negotiable! I will do my best to describe the current condition of the instrument, and I am happy to provide more photos, videos, and documentation.
According to the family we picked it up from, it has not been tuned in over 15 years. It is playable, but it is flat and the action is tired and noisy, needing a full rebuild. Several hammers in the top end are splitting. It sat in sunlight for many years with the lid open, this is evidenced by the finish on the lid cracking. The case has a few small scratches here and there, and the decorative trim running around the case has a chunk missing at the tail that has been painted in. The pinblock was “doped” by an unknown technician not associated with our store, so the piano may not hold a tune in its current state. The soundboard has a few small cracks, though no buzzing is noticed yet. The bench is broken as well. At the bare minimum, this piano needs the action rebuilt and possibly a new pinblock, as well as tuning and voicing.
As previously stated, this piano needs a full rebuild. It is being sold as-is with no warranty. The price is negotiable, all reasonable offers will be considered, especially if you can pick it up.
The piano can be inspected in our showroom in Herrin, Illinois, or we are happy to provide video and photos upon request.
Delivery within a 4 hour range is possible for a fee. This includes St. Louis, Nashville, Louisville, Memphis, and anywhere in between. Contact us for a quote! We will need addresses, ZIP code, and number of stairs.
The piano can also be picked up at our showroom. We will assist in loading. You will need proper equipment and transportation (trailer, box van, etc.). We will not load the piano into a pickup truck. (Yes, people have asked!)
