Description
Steinway grand piano #182137, circa 1916, model 'O' 5'10". I'm turning this loose with no reserve. You could buy it as is, and you'd have aplayable, tunable Steinway. I'll list more details below, and you're welcome to contact me at grand american piano all one word with the usual before and after.
I'm a piano rebuilder and could offer addition restoration if you'd like to talk about it. I'm in Moscow, ID, and I could also talk about shipping in the Northwest, and possibly CA. If you're a dealer or wholesaler on the East Coast or Midwest, I would have to have it picked up within 30 days.
Here are more details. It's a straightforward O, not an x-player. It was ebonized from the factory, and at some point in the last few decades was stripped and refinished. Since it was originally black, the case grain doesn't match like the woodgrain pianos from the factory. It also had it's keytops replaced when it was refinished. The action is original, but in decent shape. So, if you're a rebuilder, it's a nice "builder". The soundboard is in great shape. Some pressure ridges at this point, but no major cracks.
If you've always dreamed of owning a "golden era" Steinway grand piano, for less than 7K, this one is for you. (It's a no reserve auction, but I would imagine this will land right around the 5-7K range. As you probably know, lots of furious bidding in the final seconds, so even if you're high bidder around 5K, there's always last second "snipers", so bid what you actually want to pay.) This is a real Steinway. Not a duo-art player. They still make the Model 'O', it costs around 80K. I could do additional work to it if you'd like, depending on budget. Anything from nicer used action parts to a full Renner action, new finish, new strings, etc.
